IRC Cert delays !!!
Headline: IRC delivery now 4 weeks!
IRC Ratings Report:
April 3, 2008:
There is now strong evidence of the huge workload in the IRC Rating Office in the form of slower deliveries. Production time for IRC certificates is now the longest delivery period seen this year so far. Some who had applied in early March are expected to receive their IRC certificates later this week.
RORC have assured us that their systems are operating flat out but hope to be able to deliver all IRC certificates within 4 weeks of application. The implications of this for Irish boatowners who have yet to apply is that they now run a serious risk of not getting their IRC rating in time for the start of the season. Currently ISA Racing has over 50 boats waiting for IRC certificates, all of which are expected to be delivered during April.
ISA Racing continues to work closely with the IRC Rating Office in RORC in monitoring the progress of all applications made through this office to ensure the best possible turnaround. We advise owners yet to apply to expect delivery in 4 weeks from the receipt here of all the required data.
An application can be “Expedited” and the IRC certificate delivered in 5 working days at double the IRC fee. Because of the many late applications this service is also under pressure.
IRC Endorsed certificates are required for many events this year and owners need to carefully read the Notice of Race for regattas they intend to enter. Endorsed certificates require that the measurements of the boat are recorded by an approved IRC Measurer. The list of approved measurers is here (http://www.sailing.ie/inside/default.asp?pageId=355)
The SAAB Cruiser Nationals (www.hyc.ie <http://www.hyc.ie/> ) require that “IRC certificates shall be ENDORSED and have a VALIDITY DATE no later than Friday 9th May, 2008”. The deadline for IRC applications is April 10 for the standard service and May 1 for the expedited service.
The ACC Bank Cork Week (http://www.accbankcorkweek.ie) require all IRC boats, except Gentleman’s Class & Corporate Class, to hold endorsed certificates and that “Changes to the rating of a boat other than upwards will not be allowed after 1700 on Monday July 7th 2008”. The deadline for IRC applications is June 9 for the standard service and June 30 for the expedited service.
