Racing got underway again to-day (Wed) when two races were held to make up for the race lost on Tuesday when sailing had to be abandoned owing to complete lack of wind.
In Race 3 Peter O’Leary and Tim Goodbody had a 22nd, while the Dun Laoghaire pairing of Max Treacy and Anthony Shanks had a 24th. However, in Race 4 of the six race series O’Leary, who received news this week of his elevation to world 5th ranking position in the Star Class, and his crew Goodbody, had a disappointing 53rd position while Treacy and Shanks finished in 12th position.
With two races left to be sailed in the series and one discard to be applied, the O’Leary combination will be hoping to discard their 53rd. It is possible that a good result tomorrow and Friday could bring them into a top ten position in this Olympian and World Champion studded fleet. Similarly, Treacy and Shanks will be hoping to obtain good results and either or both teams could feature in the top ten finishers.
