Harrington pair take RS Feva Munsters

660-8660.jpgRichard and Amy Harrington win the 2008 RS feva Munster Championships
With the fastest growing fleet hardly out of the wrappers, the Curlane bank witnessed the final day of the first major RS Feva event under the RCYC flag yesterday – kindly & generously sponsored by FunBoats Ltd., CH Marine & RS Racing Sailboats, Southern Fruit Enterprises Ltd, Four Star Pizza, Domino’s Pizza, Nash’s Beverages Ltd., M & P O’Sullivan Ltd & Brian Trevor/ Wrigleys Gum

The Mediterranean conditions spoilt those lucky Spectators on the race area who witnessed some incredible sailing with cracking duels and close racing in what proved to be an exciting series right to the last race.

Once the sea breeze set in at midday Richard Leonard got the final races of the series underway in super condions for the second day

The RCYC Harrington brother and sister combination revelled in the lighter conditions on the second day of the series with an excellent display of covering techniques firmly holding the Morehead cousins to second place taking line honours in both races. Neither pair had it all their own way with Julie Tingle and Alexandra Morehead proving to be a formidable combination in their first Feva event together always taking the opportunity to force an error by the top two – their consistent scoring putting them in a well deserved third place. Amy Kate Trevor and Emma Geary overtook Mark Condy and Andrew Harris on the last day to take 4th

Jane and Vikki Cudmore improved their scores throughout the series with two well deserved 4th places on the final day which moved them from 10th to 6th overnight.
Well done to all the boats who made the effort to travel to the event and despite flights delaying them the Alison Greene and Elaine Breen team from Waterford managed to make the second days racing.
