Guilfoyle takes Optimist title at ISA Youth Nationals and Junior Pathway Championship 2010

Day Two at ISA Youth Nationals & Junior Pathway  Championship 2010 
Seafra Guilfoyle, Royal Cork Yacht Club takes  Optimist title with 4 race wins.

At the ISA Youth Nationals & Junior Pathway Championship, the Optimist title was decided today (Wednesday 7th April) after the fleet completed the full series of six races in Schull Harbour, Co Cork.

The 2010 ISA Optimist Junior Pathway Champion is Seafra Guilfoyle from Royal Cork Yacht Club. Sean Gambier-Ross from Kinsale Yacht Club placed second, followed by Peter McCann from Royal Cork Yacht Club.

Seafra Guilfoyle counts four race wins within the six boat series in the 26 boat fleet. For the 13 year old this will more than likely be his last year completing in the Optimist class but on coming ashore Guilfoyle commented: “There was good competition and good weather.”

When asked about sailing in his home club, he said he enjoyed: “all the coaching and there are loads of people to compete with.”

Racing resumes tomorrow for all other classes.
