It was a tough final day at the Topper World Championships 2015 on Lake Garda with the sailors up at 5.00am in search of wind, after a lot of waiting around wind did arrive in the afternoon.
Geoff Power from Waterford lost his place on the podium by a single point which was very tough but he should be very proud of his 4th place finish. Tom Keal was the next Irish sailor in the Gold Fleet in 21st place followed by Caoimhe Foster & Cian Jones in 24th & 25th respectively. Molly Murphy finished in 42nd place followed by Maeve O Sullivan in 43rd, Lucy Donworth in 44th and Amy Carroll in 55th position.
We had two prize winners in the Silver fleet, with Paddy Cunnane in 4th place followed by Juliet Nyhan in 6th, Mia Murphy was 20th in this fleet. In 4.2’s David Jones got an incredible 6th place followed closely by Georgia Coveney in 8th.
When racing finished the trailer was loaded and Denis and Brian commenced their gruelling journey home. All of our sailors did us proud in Lake Garda on and off the water and were a pleasure to look after, they made lots of new friends and had buckets of fun.
Thank you to all who helped put this amazing trip together.
“Arrivederci”
