Feva Munsters off to a cracking start

Race report and results Day 1

The Championships started off right on time under the direction of Richard Leonard. The sea breeze was fresher than expected and remained steady all afternoon enabling four races to be run back to back. Sailing conditions were excellent it was not long before spectators were aware that this was going to be a closely contested series with excellent displays of skill, persistence and indeed swimming! Race 1 saw chaos at the weather mark taking out a few of the leading boats but local sailors Richard and Amy Harrington got through to take line honours, closely followed by Mark Condy and Andrew Harry from Howth with Richard Roberts and Robbie English of RCYC taking a third.  Race 2 again went to Richard and Amy but they did not have it easy. Julie Tingle and Ally Morehead lead at the weather mark but were overtaken by Isabella and Tom Morehead at the leeward mark. Richard and Amy broke through on the beat and held the lead with Julie and Ally getting a creditable second. The breeze stiffened for race 3 which saw some exciting reaching and downwind legs on the trapezoidal course. The Fevas excelled in these conditions. Isabella and Tom took line honours from Richard and Amy with Ryan O’Leary and Billy Griffin from HYC taking third. Oscar and Luke had a spectacular capsize all caught on camera! The final race of the day saw Richard and Amy called back at the start. Richard and Robbie rattled the Morehead cousins all the way until they got clear on the final beat with Mark and Andrew taking third. Today should see similar weather conditions and with only 1 point separating the two lead boats and 1 point between the next two places it promises to be intense!.
