FERNANDO COACHING PROGRAMME JUNE 2010

Fernando Gwozdz is returning from Argentina for another skills coaching programme for the month of June.

About Fernando

This will be Fernando’s third year in a row working with our dinghy sailors to improve their sailing technique and it has proved very beneficial to sailors in previous years and has contributed hugely to the success of our dinghy sailors particularly in the Optimist and Feva Classes.
Fernando is a brilliant sailor in his own right having come second in the Optimist Worlds in his day and was runner up at last year’s 29er worlds. He has considerable experience sailing 420’s and 470’s at the highest levels.
He is a fantastic coach and is able to teach young sailors techniques and skills that will allow them to reach their potential in the sport.

All club dinghy sailors are invited to participate. The initial criteria is that each sailor should be of Gold or Silver fleet standard in their national fleet. In other words, this coaching is not for beginners. The club is keen to get as many sailors as possible to benefit from this opportunity to learn from Fernando, so we need your help to organize a schedule to accommodate the different classes.

Coaching Plan

As in previous years, the plan at this stage is that each sailor signing up for the programme
will get a total of 8 x half day sessions during the month of June. The sessions will run Monday to Saturday, 9am-1pm and 2pm-6pm.

Cost

Single-handed boat: €160
OR
2 man boat: €320

This is equivalent to €20 per sailor per session and represents excellent value.

Submit Applications with Cheques

We are asking you to complete the attached form and submit it together with a cheque for the full amount, to Miriam, in the RCYC office. Cheques will be held in the office and not lodged until arrangements are finalised. Completed applications need to be received by Friday 28th May.

Once we have all the completed forms, we will do our best to accommodate each sailors needs in a schedule, which will then be issued to each applicant.

Additional Week’s Coaching in July
Fernando will also be coaching for the week commencing 26th July. At this stage all we need is an indication of interest and availability on the Form, as we will prepare a plan for that week at a later date.
