It’s all over now1 Our World Champion Kiteboarder Bruno Sroka from Brittany came and accomplished his mission to kitesurf from France to Ireland a distance of 240 miles. He left today but not before he attended a press reception organized by Tourism Ireland to make him a presentation to mark his successful journey. Our Club Manager Gavin Deane, who had been taking care of the French visitors for the weekend and acting in his capacity as mine host making sure they were well cared for, also made a presentation to Bruno of a Royal Cork Burgee.
The weekend was an outstanding success, club members rallied and came out in very large numbers to welcome the World Champion Kitesurfer on Friday night who was overwhelmed by the friendly welcome he received. The club was at its best in the hot summer sun today with activity everywhere both children and adults going about their sailing activities and the media present gave the club its very well deserved promotion.
Rory Fitzpatrick also created a very good impression when he and his family invited the representative of Tourism Ireland from France, to watch the arrival of the Kitesurfer from the comfort of his boat. She was very impressed with the attention and welcome she received from Rory and Linda Fitzpatrick and spoke warmly about it today at the reception.
All in all a different and delightful visit that promoted a lot of goodwill and lets hope for many more such visits.
