Nineteen Royal Cork sailors took to the water in Lough Derg on the 6th & 7th April in the first leg of the Optimist trials. At the half way stage the Royal Cork hold 5 of the 6 places. Harry Durcan leads the way followed by Richard McGinley, James McCann with Johnny Durcan and Rebecca O’Shaughnessy just outside the top 5. The second leg of the Optimist trials will be held in the Royal Cork on May 4th, 5th & 6th with all to play for. All the sailors have sailed very well after months of training and all are still in contention to make the teams. Best of luck to all.
