The Monsoon type rain experienced as the boats were about to leave the marina at the Royal Cork Yacht Club on Sunday did nothing to deter the intrepid Royal Cork mariners from setting forth to race in the O’Leary Insurance Group winter League.
Mark Ring started the race from Grassy and the fleets set off in a light south westerly that built up slightly but never got to more than moderate. They rounded No. 3 buoy and then raced in the inner harbour doing two rounds of the course. Nonetheless, all the sailors professed themselves thoroughly happy with the race but were certainly glad to arrive back to the warmth and comfort of the club.
