Last Sunday saw the first race in the all new North Sails sponsored Sunday Morning Leagues. It was a damp and cold morning for the eight boats that turned up at the start line for the early start of 10.00am, but the damp day did not dampen the spirit’s, as jokes about the OOD’s strong Cork accent LIKE could be heard over the radio with just minutes to go to the all in start.
Bad Company got off to a great start and went on to take line honours, Hero’s and Villains was the second 1720 to race in class one this year and was showing some very impressive speeds downwind But the star of the show was An tOileánach staying in touch with Bad Company for the whole race and stretching their lead on the rest of the fleet.
In white sail Loch Greine and Lady T locked horns and had great racing on a slightly adjusted course to suit the shortage of big coloured sails.
All in all it was a great day out, the bite to eat with Anthony, the prize giving and post race analyses (Arguments) were done by 12.30 giving plenty of time for people to go home to cut the grass.
Thank you to all that came out to play and hope to see a few more for race 2 of the North Sails Sunday Morning league on Sunday the 18th of May with a 09.55 F.G.
