Michael Murphy’s Shelly D winner of Class Three ECHO on Day One of the Marshall Marine Textiles Winter League. Picture Robert Bateman
A grassy start under Race Officer Mark Ring saw the twenty three boat all in fleet head off in a North West wind gusting to over twenty knots towards Cork Beg where the fleet all arrived together. It turned out to be another Piccadillly type mark rounding, a little bit of shouting here and there, but all in all a gentlemanly rounding before heading for No. 10 and out the harbour to No. 3, a beat to No. 8, on to No. 5 and then the finish.
All in all an exhilarating hour and a half of racing in wintry conditions, a great race and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
