On the morning of the 28th of May four boats from the RCYC left for the Isles of Scilly, Crosby, DA’s Boat, Palomer and Impulsive. A special congratulations must go to Anthony Keating for taking his Impala 27 single handed on this trip, what an achievement.

We arrived at Tresco the following morning lead by Anthony on Impulsive. We tied up to a mooring and took it all in. Following a catch up on sleep we landed on Tresco and explored the beautiful island in what only can only be described as perfect conditions. Later that afternoon we went across to Bryher where we dined at Fraggle Rock.

The following morning in glorious sunshine we made out way out around Bryher and over to St Agnes where we anchored and went ashore for some lunch, what an amazing Island. Kieran on DA’s Boat remained in Tresco to explore more.  While leaving the beach in St Agnes, we noticed a large steel cable crossing the path to the island coming from the sea.  Later, while taking in our anchor, it got caught in a large cable which we can only presume was the same cable. We managed to free ourselves an made our way to St Marys. Here we got a mooring and ate ashore that evening.

Sunday was departure day and again in glorious sunshine with a westerly wind we set out for Cork. Brian Jones on Palomer turned south and made his way to Benodet in France. The trip in general was an enormous success, great sailing, great weather and above all great company. The Isles of Scilly are an amazing group of islands just down the road, 140 nautical miles. If you ever get a chance to visit you should grab it. Thank you to all who made the effort to participate and made it a great Cruise in company. Looking forward to the next one already.
