CORK HARBOUR OPEN DAY

Sunday, September 6th, will see a great atmosphere for the Port of Cork sponsored Cobh to Blackrock race. In addition to the traditional race there will be a myriad of events taking place in the harbour and environs and these can be seen on Cork Harbour.ie.

Organised by the Harbour Management Focus Group, the date has been selected to coincide with the Cove Sailing Club Cobh to Blackrock Race and will include events organised by clubs and organisations around Cork harbour. A number of Food and Craft Markets will take place at different locations around the harbour including Monkstown, Cobh and Crosshaven and, with the race finish at Blackrock in mind, the powers that be have arranged for a market to be in place at Blackrock. All sorts of goodies and crafts will be on display with plenty of music and street entertainment on the beautiful leafy tree lined marina walk where the boats will raft up. Hopefully the weather will be kind and it should prove to be a wonderful afternoon of racing and entertainment for all the family.

Prior to the start of racing sailors awaiting their start signals will be able to enjoy the sight of the magnificent cruise ship MV Delphin Voyager berthed at the Deepwater Quay on her maiden call to the Port of Cork. She will be carrying over 1000 passengers and crew. Her arrival is timed for 0800 and departure will be at 1700.

The race will count for SCORA for Classes 0 to 4.
