The Port of Cork has again very kindly agreed to us visiting them on Saturday 16th May 2009 and to facilitating us in holding a BBQ on Custom House Quay. As before, the Club will provide the BBQs and hot coals and you can bring and cook your own food. The number of vessels that can be accommodated on the pontoon at Custom House Quay is restricted to a maximum of sixty (60), so bookings will be on a first come first served basis.
Please reserve your place with Fran at fran@royalcork.com advising the boat name, overall length and number of crew. A berthing charge of € 50 per boat applies on booking.
We plan to have music, singing and dancing on the quays. Beer, wine and minerals will be provided and you will be asked to contribute voluntarily (and generously!!) for this. There will be a prize for the best dressed boat on the day and also spot prizes as well as a raffle. Once again, the event is in aid of the Mercy Hospital Leukaemia Fund and all monies raised, including berthing fees, will go to this fund. (More than €4,000 was raised at the last event two years ago).
Boats who fail to register will not be allowed to raft up at the quays as places and times of arrival of each boat will be pre planned and advised on the morning of departure. The fleet will depart on the afternoon of 16th May and return to Royal Cork on Sunday 17th May.
Please let Fran know of your intention to participate no later than Wednesday May 6th.
