Coolmore to Club House Race 2018

What a night for the annual Coolmore to Club House Race on Friday last, a sunny evening with warm light winds. It was a great spectacle with about 40 dinghy’s of all types and shapes sailing down the river with the finish line becoming a back drop to a club wedding, cannons cracking as each class leader finished the course in the pool outside the club house. Well done to all who turned out.

Brian Jones, Rear Admiral Dinghies was the OD on the night along with former Admiral Mr Bill Walsh who was both driving the committee boat (M.V. Carrigdhoun) and presiding over the event before firing the finishing cannons back at the club as the fleet finished.

It was the usual tricky race, where, as always, one has to get through the Drakes Pool doldrums before managing to get back in to the breeze on the last leg down to the club, lots of position changes during the length of the race.

Many thanks to our present Admiral Mr Pat Farnan who came to present the prizes of Coolmore House etched glass trophies.
