Berthing and boat handling techniques

RNLI SEACHECK SAT May 10th at Royal Cork – available from 11.00am

Once again Jon Mathers and his RNLI team are kindly offering their services to Club members for this invaluable exercise.

Whether or not your boat is new or old, or you have undergone SEACHECK in the past, you should not pass up on this opportunity to have both your safety equipment and knowledge either assessed or re-assessed.

Things change, we forget, and can only benefit from the refreshing experience of a SEACHECK evaluation, as delivered by Jon and his team in their usual friendly, helpful, and non-judgemental fashion. As they say themselves, their only aim is to provide people with the benefit of their knowledge and experience to upskill us as much as possible, in our own best interests and that of our crew.

Each boat assessment takes approximately 1 hour on average. Jon and his team will be able to accommodate 4 boats at a time, and are happy to work through into the afternoon. Don’t forget also that a completed Seacheck certificate issued on the day, entitles you to a 10% discount on safety equipment purchased through some local Chandleries. The RNLI people can advise fully on this.

It is VITAL that you register in advance for a timeslot to take advantage of this opportunity, with Batt O’Leary of the Cruising committee, who has organised this on our behalves. We also suggest that you make a small contribution to the RNLI on the day, by way of expressing our gratitude to them for once again giving us the benefit of their spare time.

For reservations Batt can be contacted on mobile 087-2560312 or e-mail info@olearyap.com
