The fine weather has finally shown a level of consistency that has very much been
favoured by our young and upcoming copper fleet sailors. The fleet in question has
continued to swell in numbers in tandem with the recent fair winds and warm air,
conditions which they hope will stretch into the month of August.
League racing continues every Saturday afternoon (first gun at 2.30pm)
and Tuesday evening(first gunat 6.30pm) for all Optimist fleets. As always, the success
or otherwise of these league races is very much dependent on the appropriate
parents signing up to the duty roster which can be viewed on the Optimist page of
the Club website. Any queries or clarity required, please contact Billy Duane.
A number of our main fleet sailors are heading to the British Nationals which are taking
place in Pwllheli, Wales over the first week of August and we wish them luck in the event.
Soon after, Howth Yacht Club will host the Irish Nationals where thirty plus sailors hope to
travel from the Royal Cork to compete in the four day event.
The week prior to the Irish Nationals, we are planning a few days of coaching for those that
may be interested….more details will follow soon. Fernando has just left our shores (again)
but there appears to be an ever growing ground swell amongst the Optimist sailors
(and others) who would love him to return in the future and it is great to see this level of
positivity.
