Royal Cork’s David Meagher has been honoured to receive an invitation to sit on the International Jury for Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. The event celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
Hamilton Island Race Week is Australia’s biggest regatta. Dave has also been invited to assist the Organisers of the event with their race management. From Friday, August 22nd to Saturday, August 30th, Hamilton Island, situated in the Great Barrier Reef amongst the 74 Whitsunday Islands, will become home to what is set to be a record breaking fleet of over 100 boats both from Australia and overseas to compete in the 25th anniversary event. Indeed the level of interest is so high two local sailors have purchased Grand Prix racing yachts from the USA so they can set their sights on the top prize.
The official nine day schedule will offer ideal racing conditions along with spectacular off water events. The format has been moulded over the years to meet the changing circumstances of handicapping systems, design trends, and the general needs of sailors looking for a good time.
