For the third time Anthony O’Leary has been awarded the Sovereign’s Cup. He first received this trophy when sailing his 1720 Ford Racing in 1995, if memory serves correctly.
Other successes for Royal Cork boats at the Sovereign’s Cup Regatta were Jelly Baby who had a second in Class One IRC, Vinny O’Shea had a second in Yanks ¢ fFrancs in Class Two IRC, Conor Phelan’s Jump Juice was second in Class Zero IRC with Kieran Twomey’s Gloves Off third in Class Zero IRC. Robert O’Leary in Antix beag had a third in ECHO. George and Neil Kenefick and Joxer O’Brien’s Tiger had a second in IRC in Class Three with Eamonn Rohan’s Anchor Challenge third and these positions were reversed in Class Three ECHO. Martin Darrer and Colman Garvey got a Seamanship award on True Pennance for their speedy pick up of an overboard sailor from Jump the Gun.
