Another well know Royal Cork name competing in the 2013 Rolex Fastnet Race

David Kenefick in The Full Irish has caught up a little bit of distance and is a lot closer to the boats ahead of him.

Yesterday, 34 years ago, Dave’s father Neil rounded the rock five hours in the lead on the famous Golden Apple in the infamous 1979 Fastnet. Today 34 years ago they had to be heli lifted after breaking the rudder. Unfortunately Dog Day Media and Neil who had been waiting patiently in a pub on Sherkin Island  last night never made it out to the Fastnet  to see the Full Irish  round the rock due to the hugely inclement weather.

Dave has now competed in over 4,000 miles of racing so far this year.  Hopefully he can gain at least two more places before the finish.
