We are delighted to announce that the annual Coolmore to Club Junior Dinghy Race 2022 will take place on Sunday 29th May 2022. This year, the event is kindly sponsored by a local company ‘House of Coolmore’ who specialise in handcrafted bespoke kitchens and furniture. This event will for the first time, incorporate the inaugural Coolmore Kayak and SUP run for all adult and juniors.
First gun will be at 17:30hrs in front of Coolmore Estate with launching from 16:30hrs and a tow upriver if required. With high tide at 17:50, racing will finish in front of the club.
Members with Kayaks/SUPs are encouraged to participate in activities with the inaugural Kayak and SUP fun run down the river. There are a few areas up river such as Rabbit Island or Kilnagleary carparks close to Coolmore Estate that members with kayaks and SUPs could use as a launch point. There will be no formal start or timekeeping for the kayakers but there may be a few spot prizes on the day.
The following dinghies are available for hire from the club. Oppies, Toppers, Magnos, Topaz, Lasers and Kayaks. Contact the club office to book a dinghy.
It would be great to see sailors sail a dinghy other than the one they sail regularly, team up with club mates to sail one of the 2-handed club dinghies, or borrow one. Parents are encouraged to enter a Kayak or SUP and take part in the occasion.
Prizes will be available for Oppies, Toppers, Lasers and Mixed Dinghies and we encourage all of our junior sailors, particularly those who recently joined to come and partake.
For those wishing to dine at the club, there will be BBQ between 18.30hrs and 20.30hrs
