5 Sundays – September 26th to October 24th 2021
The Royal Cork Yacht Club are delighted to host the 2021 AIB Autumn Series.
As the leaves begin to fall and the evenings draw in, the AIB Autumn Series is fast approaching. Racing will take place across 5 Sundays, commencing on Sunday September 26th and concluding on Sunday October 24th with First Gun at 11:25 each week. AIB’s strong support for the club will continue through to the Autumn Series and we are hugely grateful to them for sponsoring this event.
This year is set to be a hard fought series and if club racing is anything to go by, there will be battles throughout the fleets. As indicated in the Cobh to Blackrock race, the Non-Spinnaker fleet will see strong numbers and racing will be tight at the top with Prince Of Tides, Magnet and Aramis to name but a few amongst those expected to be showing good form.
The 1720 Europeans are taking place in Dunmore on the weekend of the 24th – 26th September and given the large entry of nearly 30 boats. We had initially thought of running a 4 weekend series racing commencing on October 3rd but per NOR we have added an extra discard to fleet B given a number of 1720s will be joining the series from week 2. This will mean all classes start from Sunday the 26th
The series will see the usual two races a day for all fleets across the 5 days with first Gun at 11.25hrs and we will be using a variety of course, including Windward Leeward, Round the Cans and Coastal Courses.
As always, this is an ‘Open’ event with boats and fleets from other clubs encouraged to come and enjoy the excellent racing on offer.
