Dear Member,
Following the update to the Government’s COVID-19 guidelines on Tuesday, our Club Executive Committee and their respective Committee’s have been working on interpreting the new guidelines and assessing the impact of these on our Club activities and upcoming events.
Following guidance and input from multiple stakeholders, it is with deep regret that we announce the postponement of the Tricentenary At Home Regatta including the Tricentenary Parade until 2021. We believe the event must continue to be true to both the traditions and the spirit of the At Home Regatta concept and the Tricentenary celebration should be worthy of that of the oldest yacht club in the world; this was to be impossible this year given the changes announced by the government earlier this week.
While this will come as a disappointment for us all, we welcome members to continue to enjoy the use of the club, it’s facilities and our hugely successful ongoing series of Keelboat and Dinghy league racing.
Gavin and his team are working through the latest guidelines to ensure the safety of members, visitors and staff. To ensure compliance, we are required to implement the following measures in the bar and dining room only-
- Face coverings must be worn by members when arriving to and leaving their table
- Face coverings must be worn by staff when interacting with members
- All members to be seated at a table with table service only with no seating at the bar
- There will be a maximum of six people from no more than 3 households allowed at a table
- No formal or informal events or parties can be organised in the clubhouse
New procedures are required to facilitate and comply with these measures and we thank you for your patience while we develop these; clarity here will follow in the coming days.
It is incumbent on us all to play our part in helping to suppress the recent spike in COVID-19 infections within our community.
On behalf of the Flag Officers, may I wish you and all of your families the best in these unprecedented times and we would like to thank you for your continued support.
Stay Safe,
Colin R. Morehead
