We are delighted to announce the launch of our news and features interactive section dedicated to the Motor Cruiser and general Power section of our club.
The concept is to use this as a vehicle by which we can better network amongst ourselves in order to maximise the benefits of Club Membership.
This link being dedicated solely to the Motor Powered section of our Club, provides us with what many regard as a badly needed forum for our own specific needs. We are all conscious of how well structured and catered for the Sail Sector is, both in terms of Racing / Pleasure Cruising etc. However the same cannot be said for the growing Motor Sector, the importance of which to the Club is becoming more evident by the day, judging from the number and scale of the vessels appearing on our marina. This of course mirrors an international trend, which cannot be ignored.
So being fully conscious of this, our Club Officers are anxious that a more inclusive structure for Power Cruisers be developed. Some evidence of this will already have been noticed through the introduction of such as information meetings on Engine maintenance – Safety – Winterisation etc. that would have particular significance for power- reliant vessels.
Cruise-In-Company events are well established within the sailing sector, and are very popular and sociable. This serves Club objectives well in helping to make membership all the more enjoyable. It also provides less experienced sea- farers with the security of knowing assistance is nearby if needed, and helps them gain the experience to broaden their cruising horizons. A hearty welcome has been extended to all Motor Cruisers from the Sail sector to join them in their Cruise events. So far unfortunately for whatever reason, this has received only a very limited uptake. It has therefore been decided to try Motor Cruiser only C-I-C events first as an encouragement.
Plans are in place for such events, but as our summer has as yet not arrived, we have been unable to progress this any further. Watch this space for updates, and other Motor Cruiser specific events of interest. Also we will be delighted to receive any contributions you may wish to submit aimed at achieving these goals via the contact options provided.
