This weekend, September 8th/9th sees the start of a new phase of activity in the 420 class locally with a number of new teams expected to take to the water in advance of the Munster Championships which take place in the club later in the month on September 22nd/23rd.
Thomas Chaix, the National Optimist coach who has already worked very successfully with pretty well all of the new 420 pairings at optimist level is leading a local club coaching clinic this weekend, September 8th/9th with boats being provided by Curradinghy for the interested parties.
The following weekend, September 15th/16th, will see the local boats being joined by boats from other parts of the country as the ISA and 420 Class Association kick off their new Academy Programme with an open coaching weekend in Crosshaven. GBR Olympic sailor and RYA coach Elliot Willis will be joined by ISA Coaches Ross Killian and Thomas Chaix for what should prove to be great preparation for the Munsters.
