⛵ Tin & Copper Fleet Update (July 2026)
What a start to the season! Since May, our Tin & Copper (T&C) group has smashed 8 sessions with 56 total attendances. The progress has been brilliant, and a number of sailors took advantage of the warmer weather to tick off their capsize drills—a massive confidence booster! 💪
🏆 Big Congratulations!
- Erin Choi – Winner of the Coolmore House race! 🥇
- Evie Brun – Placed a fantastic 2nd in the Regatta Coached fleet at the IODAI Munsters in Dunmore East! 🥈 (Shout-out to the three RCYC sailors who traveled!)
📅 The Road to the Optimist Nationals RCYC (Aug 13–16)
To keep the momentum going, upcoming sessions will align with the Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon leagues right up to the IODAI Optimist Nationals here at RCYC. The Regatta-Coached format will continue to keep things fun.
Stay Posted: Join the ‘RCYC Tin/Copper fleet’ WhatsApp chat within the ‘Royal Cork YC – Dinghy’ community to get all fleet updates.
⚠️ We Need You! The Nationals are a massive local event, and we are looking for volunteers to help make it a success. We especially need volunteers on-the-water support motherships. Please put your hand up if you can help out!
👀 New to Sailing? Give It a Go!
With many of our T&C sailors heading into summer courses in July/August, we have room for fresh faces!
If you have zero experience (or just a “Taste of Sailing”), aren’t on a current course, and just want to have FUN, this is for you. We can run 2–3 hour micro-sessions (midweek evenings or weekends) based on your demand.
(Pending coach/safety boat/weather).
