Forty seven sailors took to the water this morning on the last day of the Optimist Beginner/Improver Sessions. The sessions started on April 25th and five Saturdays provided perfect conditions for the young sailors to have lots of fun, make new friends and get afloat. We had 84 children participate in one or more of these sessions with an average of 45 per week. Darren O’Keeffe and his merry band of helpers sorted, assigned and took to the water with great ease this morning but not before we captured this photo. A huge thank you to Darren, Celine McGrath, all the adult helpers and all the junior sailors that assisted with the Optimist Groups and 12+ Improver Group who sailed each week.
The last day of the April/May League was held this afternoon in unseasonably damp and cold conditions – results will be posted here. It was great to see so many sailors turn up particularly given it was a Bank Holiday Weekend.
The June Tuesday League will commence this Tuesday 2nd – rigged and ready for 1730 hours. The June Saturday League will commence next Saturday 6th June – rigged and ready for 1315 hours. The Dutyman roster is “live” for these leagues and we would ask parents to please sign up for their duties – click here.
