Royal Cork Optimist sailors to compete at Yacht Club de Monaco

Early next month the Royal Cork Yacht Club will once again be one of 16 yacht clubs invited from all around Europe to compete in the annual Monaco Optimist Team Racing event. Our team of four sailors will travel with a mandatory club team coach and team parents for five days and are looking forward to flying our club burgee on the shores of the Mediterranean.  This year the official team jackets were kindly sponsored by James Matthews of Matthews Sports shop, which carries one of the largest stocks of sailing clothing in the Munster region ( http://shop.matthewsofcork.com/). Thank you to Matthews for their support.

Admiral John Roche said he was delighted to see the Royal Cork continuing to build strong connections with YC Monaco. This friendship continues to develop as a result of a formal twinning of both clubs two years ago at a ceremony attended by our club General Manager, Gavin Deane

We wish our sailors representing us in 2017 the very best of luck and look forward to many more of our junior sailors attending this event in the years to come in order to experience this truly international event.
