STOP PRESS:Unprecedented Success for Irish Optimists in Poland

The European Optimist Championships finished today. The Irish sailors achieved the best set of results ever as follows:

Boys (145 entrants): Peter McCann (RCYC) 7th, Seafra Guilfoyle (RCYC) 22nd, Sean Donnelly 30th and Patrick Crosbie (RCYC) 40th.

Girls (101 entrants): Sophie Browne (TBSC/RCYC) 33rd, Gil McGinley (RCYC) 69th and Erica Ruigrock (SSC/HYC/RSC) 87th.

Royal Cork Optimists Lead the Clipper!

Royal Cork Optimist Sailors were honoured to carry the country flags for the parade of Clipper Crews on their arrival in Cork on Wednesday evening. The crews were very appreciative and the Jamacan lead the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" for Rebecca O'Shaughnessy. More pictures can be seen on the club gallery here.

 

 
Calves Week 2010

Calves Week will commence on Friday 30th July this year. The first race is a feeder event, with boats racing overnight from Crosshaven to Schull. A feeder race for the White Sail class will leave Kinsale for Schull on Saturday morning, July 31st. Racing begins in earnest with the Schull to Baltimore race on Sunday, continuing with races every day, culminating in the Schull Regatta on Sunday 8th August. Calves Week offers the participants a wonderful opportunity of enjoying the magnificent coastal scenery, competitive racing and lots of fun and craic onshore. Parade of Sail - An Invitation

A large flotilla of boats was on the water to greet Cork as she raced into Kinsale on Sunday 27 June. Now there’s the chance to join the parade as the whole Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race fleet sails from Kinsale to Cork City on Wednesday 7 July.
