SailFleet J80's

As many of you may be aware the ISA purchased eight J80 keelboats for its SailFleet initiative. These boats were acquired for the ISA "Sail for All" programme as well as being used for both its Match Racing and annual All Ireland Championships (hosted again this year by the Royal Cork Yacht Club).

The J80's will be ready to move to the Royal Cork from the 28th of July onwards. We need to find 7 drivers to transport the boats from Dublin to our Club. All volunteers would be greatly appreciated.

Calves Week Schull July 30th - August 8th 2010

With over 60 confirmed entries at present, the 2010 Calves Week in Schull is expected to top the 80 boat mark for the annual West Cork festival of sailing. The week long sailing event is once again supported by the local business community together with sponsorship from Saab, Airtech Security and A&L Castors.

The RS Feva World Championships are taking place at the moment in Carnac in Southern Brittany with racing commencing from today July 26th and the event will conclude on Saturday, July 31st.

Laser Reinvigoration - Sunday 5th September 2010

At a recent meeting held in the Club a committee of Nick Walsh (Class Captain), Mark Whitaker and Damien Byrne was set up to reinvigorate the Laser class in the Club. This will initially focus on bringing junior sailors into the Laser 4.7 and Radial fleet. An open day for all those interested in joining the Laser fleet has been set for Sunday 5th September. A question and answer session, boat availability etc and an on the water introductory session for all perspective sailors is planned. Coaching is planned from October to Christmas and a Frostbite League for Nov/Dec.
