RS FEVA 2013 Sailing Schedule

The first event of the season is a FEVA Open Day on 16th March and is an opportunity for boat buyers & sellers to meet and for anyone interested in sailing or getting involved in the FEVA Class to come down and meet the class members, and test a FEVA on the water.  Prior booking essential to guarantee time on water (contact rory.fitzpatrrick@nationalspacecentre.eu), however all are welcome.

Junior Laying Up & Pyewacket Trophy Award

Last Friday a highly successful junior sailing season concluded with the Junior Laying Up and Pyewacket Trophy Award Night .
A large attendance of both sailors and parents from the Laser, Feva, 420 and Optimist classes enjoyed a marvellous evening celebrating the success of young Royal Cork sailors during the 2012 season.

Each of the dinghy  classes in turn presented various prizes to their successful sailors. Fun prizes were also presented to both children and adults. Frank Thompson looked spectacular in his pink all-in-one pyjamas. Various tokens of appreciation were also awarded during the evening for good services rendered in the season.

The Dognose Trophy Saturday 14th July

All Class 1 Dinghies, the Dognose Trophy(originally scheduled for Sept 1st) will be run in conjunction with a great event in Lower Aghada to celebrate their new pontoon on Saturday July 14th. The Miss Betty(Class 2) and the Dognose(Class 1) were traditionally run together but we are having trouble locating this trophy, finding out when the Miss Betty was run last or who may have won it. I just wanted to give the ‘heads up’ incase there are any Class 2 dinghies that might want to race for this trophy. If you have any information please contact your Class Captain. RS Feva Munster Championship 2012

RS Feva Munster Championship 2012

The RS Feva Munster Championship took place at Monkstown Bay Sailing Club last weekend. PRO John Moynihan and his MBSC team held 6 races over the two day event.

Royal Cork helm, Harry Whitaker and crew Peter McCann won the event.  Harry Whitaker’s older brother David, the reigning Feva National Champion and his crew Johnny Durcan started well with the windy conditions suiting the pair.

However, Harry and Peter soon got the measure of the conditions and put pressure on David leaving it all to sail for on Sunday. Light winds, sunshine and a strong ebb tide provided a different challenge for the competitors on the Sunday.
