Dun Laoghaire Topper Event

Congratulations to our four junior sailors, Luke McGrath, Eoghan O’Regan, Adam D’Arcy and Ronan Walsh who travelled to Dublin last weekend to compete in the Topper event in Dun Laoghaire. Not only was it their first Topper event it was also their first time sailing a Topper and they did their club proud. All four sailors came in the top half of the fleet with Ronan Walsh receiving 3rd prize for the U14s. The sailors had a great weekend, new friends were made and the boys were great ambassadors for the Royal Cork. Well done to all.

Oppie fundraising show at Crosshaven Community Centre – Thursday May 23rd.

Local drama group CADS are to stage an extra performance of their recent hit “Partners, Wives and Lovers” at the Crosshaven Community Centre on Thursday May 23rd. Proceeds from the show will go to the Oppie fundraising drive.Tickets are available from the club and the usual outlets and are priced at €10.00. …

Cove Sailing Club – Marlogue Trophy Race

This is a reminder that  Cove Sailing Club’s Marlogue Trophy race will take place on Sunday 19th May Fg 14.00hrs

CSC plan to finish the race at or near East Ferry Marina. Boats can then tie up and prize giving will be held in Murph’s Bar over the water from the marina. There will be a rib service to ferry sailors to and from the marina.

New Cork Harbour Combined League

Last Friday night was the first race of the new Cork Harbour Combined Leagues. The first race was run by CSC and the start line was between the committee vessel and East Ferry 2 channel marker. With a very testing force 5 blowing from the WNW and a falling tide the fleet headed up to the first mark on the course, no 9. Kieran Dorgan helming his brother Finbarrs boat No Half Measures took an early lead to no 9 but with a miner navigational hiccup they sailed straight past the next mark no 14 and in doing so handed the lead to Bandit owned by Graham Marron and Kieran O’Connell.
